What is the Patek Philippe 5524G?

Patek Philippe unveiled the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time at Baselworld in 2015, and it surprised collectors. The Calatrava name usually means a slim, formal dress watch. The 5524 is a larger, sportier take with big luminous Arabic numerals, two knurled pushers on the left of the case and a travel complication built for frequent flyers.

That complication lets you move the local hour hand forward or back one hour at a time. The minutes, seconds and home time keep running, so you can reset your watch after landing without stopping it.

The 5524G lug: 21mm between the lugs, tapering to 18mm at the buckle.

The 5524G has a 42mm white gold case, 10.78mm thick, with a 21mm lug width. Most straps taper to 18mm at the buckle.

Some sites quote 22mm, but dealers listing the 5524G-001 give 21mm. If unsure, measure between the lugs with calipers.

Patek Philippe 5524 models: 5524G-001, 5524G-010 and 5524R-001

The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time comes in three references. All three share the same 42mm case, the same 21mm lug width and the same pilot-style dial layout, so one strap shape fits all of them.

Patek Philippe 5524G-001

The original 2015 white gold model, launched at Baselworld, with a blue sunburst dial. This is the reference most people mean when they search for the “5524G”.

Patek Philippe 5524G-010

A later white gold version with an ivory (white) dial. Same 42mm case and 21mm lugs as the 5524G-001, so it takes the same 21/18mm straps.

Patek Philippe 5524R-001

The rose gold version, with a brown sunburst dial that fades to black. Same 42mm case and 21mm lugs, so our 21/18mm leather and rubber straps fit the 5524R as well. Tan, olive, chocolate and black look especially good against rose gold.

5524G-010 White gold Ivory 42mm 21mm
5524R-001 Rose gold Brown sunburst 42mm 21mm

Patek Philippe 5924G: the flyback chronograph version

If you searched for the 5924G, you are looking at the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Flyback Chronograph, the sibling of the 5524. It adds a flyback chronograph to the dual time zone function, in the same white gold, 42mm pilot case style and with the same 21mm lug width. Our 21/18mm strap shape suits it as well.
